Mathieu Burniat

Mathieu Burniat

Born in Brussels in 1984, Mathieu Burniat was drawn to art and illustration from a young age.

As a teenager, he took part in an animated film workshop called Zorobabel, and in 2007, he earned a degree in industrial design at the renowned visual arts school La Cambre.

Burniat worked for two years as an industrial designer, which led him to travel to China to meet with local industrial companies. During these trips, he compiled countless images and souvenirs that would help him to create Shrimp (Dargaud 2012), his first comic book.

Since then, Burniat has become a rising star in the field, completing La Passion de Dodin-Bouffant in 2014 (Dargaud; Dodin-Bouffant: Gourmet Extraordinaire, Europe Comics, 2017), followed by the celebrated Le Mystère du monde quantique in 2016 (Dargaud; Penguin in English, Mysteries of the Quantum Universe).
